Praying in the Holy Spirit

Righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit is God’s Kingdom

Before we can ever pray in the Holy Spirit, we must first know who He is and have a relationship with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He is not a tag along to the trinity, but He is God Almighty. He is our battle partner, our paraclete. He is our teacher, our counselor, our comforter who comes alongside of us to help, to guide, protect and correct me and He intercedes for me. I love that, I need someone to intercede for me with joy and since I am His child, I know that He believes in me and is constantly wooing me unto Him because He loves me. The Holy Spirit is compared to oil and He wants to marinate us in Him. Woo hoo, I love you Holy Spirit. I want to hug and kiss you and say thank you because when I am marinated in your oil then I have the perfume of the Holy Spirit. That is exciting.

I must spend time with Him, honouring Him and knowing Him. How I come to know Him is to spend time in conversation with Him, reading the Word of God and asking Him, Holy Spirit what are you saying to me today. As I am obedient to do this then I know Him.

I also learn that since I live in the time of the New Testament the Holy Spirit has come to live inside of me because I am the temple of the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit would only come upon some people and leave But in the New Testament He dwells in me however I still have to surrender more and more of myself to Him.

1 Corinthians 6:19 ESV Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,

One way is that we are obedient to the scriptures of praying in the Holy Spirit and spending time with Him in our prayers:

Romans 8:26-27 ESV Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

The best part of my spiritual armour is prayer. I am to be always praying, every day, no matter the season and with perseverance and tenacity and thanksgiving.

Eph 6:18  AMP  With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.

Philippians 4:6 ESV Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication (petition) with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

The tenacity in prayer reminds me of the persistent lady going to the unrighteous judge in Luke 18. Because of her persistency the unrighteous judge granted her the wishes she was asking. Jesus then says to us, “will I find this kind of faith when I return.”

One of my favorite scriptures of praying in the Holy Spirit that the Lord promises me that it will build up my faith and not just my faith but my most holy faith. That is amazing.

Jude 1:20 ESV But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit.

Father I pray that you would bless people today as they read about praying in the Holy Spirit, that they would spend time loving on the Holy Spirit, listening to His precious voice and allowing themselves to be marinated in the sweet perfume of oil of the Holy Spirit. Bless them today. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Be encouraged by this prayer of praying in the Holy Spirit.
