Dig in the gold mine to find all the Testimonies

When I think of the word testimony, I often interchange that word with miracles that God has done in my life. To have a testimony you must go through a test and the optimal word is through and most times miracles were provided.

With our testimonies we should always remember what the Lord has done but it must come to the day that our speech is not always “Well 20 years ago, 30 years ago, 15 years ago the Lord did this and the Lord did that.” The Lord wants us to be thankful and to remember those testimonies, those miracles because they are our foundation. There are so many scriptures in the Old Testament where the Lord tells the Israelites to remember what He has done.

Deuteronomy 8:2 ESV And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.

Psalm 77:11 ESV I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.

However, that is just the beginning there is also a scripture that the Lord says Forget all that because what I am about to do is much better.

Isaiah 43: 18-19 NLT “But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. 19 For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”

Our Lord is a daily provider! In the Lord’s prayer He reminds us to pray “Give us this day our daily bread”, the Lord has daily provisions for us where we have testimonies each day. This is why the Israelites were only supposed to gather daily manna because He wants us to spend time with Him every day. He hungers for us to knock on His door, to be in His presence, to having our coffee or tea and biscuits with Him because He wants that intimate fellowship with us. With this daily provision there are also miracles every day.

In that daily encounter with the Holy Spirit, I will have a testimony of “today”. I will always be standing firm in the Lord; I will have my eyes so fixed on Jesus just like Enoch did who walked with God and was no more because he walked into heaven. Woo Hoo!  Or I will be so focused that I will be like Elijah who was taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire. Both Enoch and Elijah eyes and heart were so engaged, concentrated, preoccupied on God Almighty, they were not looking back. Yes, they remembered that God is always faithful, God is always good, God did miracles for them, they knew the numerous testimonies from the past but they knew that in a sense they had to forget those because God was bigger than all these testimonies and God had more and even better testimonies for them today.

All the generals in the faith chapter of Hebrews 11 knew their testimonies but they were also keeping their eyes looking forward Jesus to bring them into the future, to all the miracles coming.

Everyday there are miracles taking place, never ask “why don’t I see them.” I believe that we must retrain our mind so that we can see all what God has for us and that is possible because of what Paul tells us in Romans 12.

Romans 12: 1-2 NASB Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, [a]acceptable to God, which is your [b]spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this [c]world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may [d]prove what the will of God is, that which is good and [e]acceptable and perfect.

One writer Kathy Vallotton had a time in her life where the Lord told her, “You are going to have to look for the miracles – there will be 21 days of miracles, but you will have to look for them.” So, in the process of renewing our mind we are working to see. I compare this as to the digging for gold because when you walk into a gold mine there is not gold glittering on the walls. No, we must dig and work hard to find gold, and then we will have gold in our lives, but we must renew our mind with the Word of God to see them. Once you start doing this the blinders will be taken off your eyes and heart to see all miracles. It will give you strength to stand strong in thankfulness for all that God has done.

I also do not want to be a gran (short form for a grandmother) who is always talking about the past of what God has done for me. It is important to me that I share with my grandchildren, my children and my husband of my daily relationship with the Lord. The Holy Spirit is amazing because when I ask for help to see the miracles and to take the blinders away, He is faithful to do that.

One reason that we must have daily testimonies and to see like God sees because future believers will come to salvation to Jesus because of our testimonies.

John 17: 20 TLB “I (Jesus) am not praying for these (disciples) alone but also for the future believers who will come to me (Jesus) because of the testimony of these.

Not only that but one way we overcome the enemy is by the word of our testimony as we read in Revelations 12.

Revelation 12:11 ESV And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.

There is also a saying that a man with no testimony has no argument with a man who has a testimony.

In Psalm 119 when they speak of testimonies it is referring to God’s laws, His instructions, and decrees and that they are our delight. But that is another posting for sure.

Psalm 119: 24 NASB Your testimonies also are my delight: They (the testimonies, laws, decrees, and instructions) are my counselors.

I want a testimony today, tomorrow and everyday that I walk on this earth until I take my last breath and I am standing in the presence of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Father God I pray for everyone that reads this and even those that don’t I pray that the blinders would be taken away from our eyes so that we can see Your daily provision, the testimonies that You have provided for us from tests and miracles. Father, I pray that we would not be lazy, but we would renew our mind according to Your laws, decrees and counselors and that Your Word would be our delight. May we all start seeing better today than we did yesterday and to stay focused on You Holy Spirit. In Jesus Name. Amen.

We have a book at my church where people write their testimonies so everyone can be blessed by what God is doing. I also keep a journal so I don’t forget the wonderful things God has done in my life!
