Last night we saw the Jesus Revolution Movie and it was excellent. I hope that you can see that great life story of three different men in that revolution, so well done.
In one part of the movie Pastor Chuck Smith’s wife said to him “the truth is simple; the truth is quiet, and the lies are loud”. That grabbed my attention and I just had to find my journal and try to find a blank page in a dark theatre to write it out.
The movie is about the hippie movement when a Jesus Revolution broke out in the 60’s, the 1960’s which seems like a long time ago, peace signs, drugs, sex, rock n’ roll, saying No to Vietnam and since that time the fatherless movement has run rampant in our nations and obstinateness and disobedience that I believe we still taste of that today.
When I heard the truth is quiet and the lies are loud, I thought of the woke culture that we live in now and that woke culture is screaming at us continuously of lies such as:
you have no identity, you are unwanted, you have no purpose, you have no calling, you are worthless, you are unloved, there is no God, you are not a boy or a girl, your gender is unknown, you can pick whatever you want, the baby inside your womb is just a fetus.
These lies plus many others are screaming at us day by day from the woke culture and I see that picture of a mad woman or man with a blowhorn forcing it’s way into our homes, our businesses, our hearts, our minds with the purpose of stealing our identity and forcing us to an early death and if not death a life without purpose.
The screaming lies of today and since the fall of mankind have always felt like we have been vomited upon always left us feeling dirty and will always try to make us feel that way but as we come to the Lord and surrender all, He is able to wash us clean and make us fresh. I am so grateful.
Opposite from the lies are the truth that the Word of God tells us the truth of Jesus is the only way to the Father and that the Lord has a still small voice and for us to hear God we must draw close to Him.
John 14: 6 NKJV Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
1 Kings 19: 11-13 NKJV 11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire [e]a still small voice. 13 So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
James 4:8 ESV Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
The lies also scream at us that Jesus is not good, not fair, not loving, not kind but that is totally opposite of what the Word of God says. The lies also scream that we cannot trust Jesus, but the truth is that He is everlasting. He is righteous and has made us righteous when we surrender to Him.
2 Corinthians 5:21 NASB He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Jeremiah 31:3 NASB1995 The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore, I have drawn you with lovingkindness.
John 6:68 NASB Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.
One part of the movie someone said to Greg “When you stop running the war waging inside of yourself will stop”. It brought me to memories of my own salvation. I had been running from Jesus for awhile but especially the last four months prior to my salvation every morning I would try to scrub myself clean of my dirty sins in the shower. No matter how hard I scrubbed those sins would not leave. I kept running away but it was only when I came to the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, bowed my knee and heart, surrendering my life, asking forgiveness for my own dirty sins, and receiving His forgiveness was when the war inside of myself stop.
It is only by His blood that my sins could be forgiven but I had to stop running.
Thankfully the Holy Spirit is so kind, He kept convicting me and drawing me to Him with His love, His righteousness, His goodness, His mercy, and His Words of eternal life.
Many times, when you hear of the 60’s and the hippie movement, you will not think of the Jesus Revolution but of the sins and the woke culture that was screaming at them at that time in history. But be encouraged, great salvations of many Godly men and women were happening at that time and they were in their teens, early twenties, some were hippies and some not But multitudes of salvations were happening, great awakenings for the Lord Jesus were happening, repentance was happening, multitudes drawing near to the Lord around the world and the same is happening today. Revivals are happening in every country, young, old, middle age, repentance is happening. People are falling flat on their face to God and asking forgiveness and deliverance and salvations are happening. The prodigals are coming home. Do not believe the screaming voices of the woke culture because they do not have the last say. The Lord Jesus Christ has the last say and the Holy Spirit is going about bringing conviction not condemnation and there is a change.
So do not be anxious, seek the Lord with all your heart, trusting Him because He has great plans for us.
Luke 10: 41-42 ESV But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
Jeremiah 29:13 ESV You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29: 11 NKJV 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Holy Spirit, I thank you that You are truth and that You have great plans for us. I thank you that we can bring all our anxieties to You, leave them there and we do not have to be troubled in this time. I also thank You that You speak to us with a still small voice, voice of encouragement and direction and that Your plans are fabulous and that we are made clean by the blood of Jesus Christ and that we can know the truth and the truth will set us free. Woo hoo. Thank you Lord God Almighty that You are truth, in Jesus Name, Amen.
