False Identities – Who Are We Believing?

Have you ever been to a garbage enclosure where you back up the truck of refuse that you must empty in an enclosed building and the smells are overwhelming, you want to faint, you want to have a shower and immediately clean that dirt off you.  This is how we look and smell when we are believing a lie about our identity.

The picture that I see is a child or grown person, and garbage is constantly being dumped on them, garbage of cut glass, and it is cutting you and then you are infected by the garbage, and that infection is oozing out of you.

A demon of lies is behind every false identity. That is a statement given by someone who was walking as the wrong sex – but when she became born again, she heard the Lord tell her that He, God Almighty had made man and woman, husband, and wife to be in covenant, to have children and raise a legacy. He had made her with a purpose and a plan and that He loved her exactly how He created her, and she was not created with a mistake.

When I heard that statement of truth, I thought of how many times many of us, myself included at the age of 60 have not believed of who God says that we are. We were made in His image, created for good works, created for God’s glory, created for a purpose and plan and most importantly we were created to seek the Lord with all our heart so that we are His friend. Woo hoo that is exciting.

When I believe that I am not loved, I am ugly, I am horrible, that everyone hates me and God hates me then I am believing lies and ALL lies come from the father of lies, Satan and his army, made of demons therefore behind every false identity is a demon who is trying to crush you with lies so that you are not able to hear the Word of God.

  • John 10:10 ESV The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
  • John 8: 44 NKJV  You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

How we battle with the lies from the enemy is that is we ask the Lord who am I?

If we have no faith to ask, then first we should look up scriptures and tell ourselves those scriptures and then pray, have a conversation with the Lord, something like this, “Well Lord you say that I am made in Your image”, what does that truly mean. Do you look like me or do I look like you? Ask the simple questions with knowing that God does not lie. The Word of God is the only living book on this planet and He does not lie. I have added other scriptures to help you start looking up your identity with God.

  • Hebrews 6: 18 ICB These two things cannot change. God cannot lie when he makes a promise, and he cannot lie when he makes an oath. These things encourage us who came to God for safety. They give us strength to hold on to the hope we have been given.
  • Genesis 1:26-28 ESV Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
  • Ephesians 2:10 ESV For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
  • Isaiah 43:7 ESV Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
  • Titus 2:14 ESV Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
  • John 15:15 ESV No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
  • Ephesians 3:17-19 NKJV that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
  • Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
  • Jeremiah 29: 13 NKJV And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Last week something happened where I did not feel loved, wanted, needed and a couple of tears came to my eyes, and I started telling myself the truth of “God You say that I am loved by You. God, you say that I am precious. God, you say that I am wanted. God, you say that You have a calling, a purpose and plan on my life and God I choose today to not listen to the demon of lies sent out by the enemy to destroy me because God You are the only one who does not lie, and You are truth. Thank You Lord.”

Holy Spirit I thank You that You are truth and that You cannot lie therefore I trust You when You tell me that I am made in Your image, I am precious, You have a purpose, plan and calling on my life to bring glory to You and to seek You with all my heart and then I will be Your friend. I pray that You would reveal this to everyone who has been struggling with the fiery darts of lies from the enemy and that they would seek Your face, seek out Your truths in Your Word and then have a conversation with You and that You would encourage them with the truth, in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
