For years my favorite scripture has been Proverbs 11: 1 which talks about a balance out of order or false is an abomination to the Lord, but God’s delight is an accurate or a just weight meaning that the scales have not been tampered.
That has been my heart’s desire is that I would be accurate for Him or not cheating or lying so that He is able to say to me, daughter you have done well, I am pleased with you and now I have more for you.
- Proverbs 11: 1 NASB A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.
Oxford Dictionary describes abomination, balance, false as:
- Abomination – A feeling of hatred, a thing that causes disgust or hatred.
- Balance – an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.
- False – not according with truth or fact, incorrect, made or meant to deceive.
Over my forty years of salvation, I have found that to walk in that just weight with Him is a daily walk. It is a constant checking with the Holy Spirit, asking Him how am I doing? One day in online prayer, I had this handheld mirror with me and as I was praying, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “hold the mirror up to your face praying Lord I pray that all of us would look boldly into a mirror with You, asking how I am?” As I did that tears started to form in my eyes, my chin started to quiver because I could see myself as I was praying which was powerful because the Holy Spirit told me to do that and it was not judgmental but I knew that He wanted me to be that bold with Him asking with open eyes and I would see where I had any false balances or abominations in my life that I did not recognize for the purpose of repentance and to hate that lawless deed so that righteousness would reign in my life.
Jesus as the Son of Man walking on this earth lived a just weight pleasing to His Father by only doing what the Father commanded Him to do. John 14: 31
He showed us the pathway so that we are able, all we must do is to cry out Help!
Jesus who is righteous, loved righteousness and hated lawlessness, which is wickedness, sin. He was teaching us to love what God loves and to hate what God hates. He also taught us why we were to hate wickedness or lawlessness. We are not to hate lawless people but we are to hate sin. He taught us then and now that sin kills and that is why God hates sin because of what it does to His people. God is righteous, God is love, God is holy, and He cannot be in the presence of sin, and He wants us with Him, so Jesus came to open the way.
- Hebrews 1: 9 NASB You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of joy above Your companions.”
Another amazing part of the Lord is that Jesus is the Just Judge and a Merciful God and only He can do this at the same time. The image that comes to my mind is justice scales. For years I have wanted a set of justice scales in my home to remind me daily of who He is and that I would desire that just weight in me so that I would be a delight to Him.
- Psalm 96: 13 NIVUK Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for He comes, He comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.
- Ephesians 2: 4-5 NASB But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our wrongdoings, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)
The Holy Spirit encourages me daily, “Lisa sweetheart, remember that Jesus is the straight and narrow path so bring all your thoughts into alignment with the Lord’s and remember that this is only possible by the mercies of God, so I am here to help.” Wow that is encouraging. This is the only way to stay on the justice scales in a delightful way to the Lord.
- Romans 12: 1-2 NASB Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
The Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance when Solomon had finished the house of the Lord and the king’s palace and the Lord had appeared to Him at night giving Solomon this amazing promise which is for all Christ followers today, the body of Christ that if pestilences came or rain held back then we as the Body of Christ was to seek God’s face, turn from our wicked ways then God will hear and forgive our sins and heal our land. What a promise. I do not know about your country, but we need that in our country. I pray this almost daily for my country and the people who live here that we as the body of Christ will do just this.
- 2 Chronicles 7: 14 NKJV if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Holy Spirit, I pray that You would continue to bring a fresh revelation of Your Word to us which would bring a strength of the Word of God in our hearts and our minds. I pray that we love what You love Lord which is righteousness and hate what You hate which is lawlessness and Holy Spirit continue to teach us why. Lord I also pray that even if we do not understand we would be obedient to You ,in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
