At weekly online prayer, where I pray for our nation and church, I prayed that everyone would have a revelation of the Lord’s Prayer. I asked our revelation be like Paul’s when his eyes opened in Acts 9: 3-19.
I also asked that the Lord make known to each person the meaning of each stanza of the Lord’s Prayer with a childlike faith.
As I was praying each stanza of the Lord’s Prayer, words flowed from my heart what does that mean, what does that mean to me, am I living it or am I not? Throughout the week, the Holy Spirit continued to speak to me about the Lord’s Prayer.
What does that mean is the truth of that statement? What does that mean to me? Do I believe this statement’s truth? Am I living this truth or am I not?
Our Father, the truth of that statement is that God sent His Son, Jesus, born of a virgin under the law. We are redeemed by Him, and we have been adopted. We can cry out Abba Father and we are no longer slaves but sons and daughters and heirs through Jesus Christ. Galatians 4:4-7, 1 Chronicles 29: 10, Romans 1: 7
Who art in heaven, the truth is that we are praying to God our heavenly Father. We believe that He is God, the creator of heaven and earth, and we are not. Nehemiah 9: 6, Deuteronomy 4: 39, 2 Chronicles 6: 14
Hallowed be Your Name, the truth is that God is holy and to be revered, worshipped, and praised for who He is. Isaiah 6: 1-5, Revelation 4: 8, Psalm 2: 11, Psalm 100
Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, the truth is that when I pray God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done means that I am praying that my will dies and His will lives and that I will surrender. John 6: 40, Psalm 143:10, Luke 22: 42, Psalm 40:8
Give us this day our daily bread, the truth is that God is our provider, Jehovah Jireh and that He is the one we look to for provision. Genesis 22:14, Hebrews 11: 17-18, Deuteronomy 8: 3, Romans 8: 32
And forgive us our debts, the truth is that God forgives us our sins when we ask, He does not remember our sins, and we have redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of sins. 1 John 1: 9, Matthew 26: 28, Ephesians 1: 7, Psalm 103: 12
As we also have forgiven our debtors, God’s truth is that if we do not forgive others when they offend or sin against us, God cannot forgive us. Matthew 18: 21-22, Colossians 3: 13, Mark 11: 25, Luke 6: 37
And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from evil. The truth is that God does not tempt us. He tells us to renew our minds and set our mind on the things above. Jesus also tells us to keep watch and pray that we do not enter temptation. The Lord says the best way to be protect us from evil temptations is to submit to God, resist the devil, and he must flee and draw near to God. Romans 12: 2, Ephesians 6: 17, Colossians 3: 2, Matthew 6: 41, James 4: 7-8
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, the truth is that greatness, power, glory, victory, and majesty belong to God Almighty and that it is His kingdom, and that does not pass away or will be destroyed. 1 Chronicles 29:11, Psalm 145: 12-13, Daniel 7: 14
Forever and ever and ever. Amen. The truth is that the kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord, and He shall reign forever and ever. For anyone to see the kingdom of God, they must be born again and preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the world. Revelation 11: 15, Matthew 24: 14, John 3: 3
I know all these truths of the Lord’s Prayer. The Holy Spirit said do you believe these truths? I could confidently answer that yes, I do believe these truths.
The next question is, am I living this truth or am I not living this truth? As I contemplate this, I believe that I am living these truths. However, I lay my beliefs before the Holy Spirit, asking Him to convict me if I am not living these truths. I trust His truth over my perception. I also know that the Holy Spirit came to guide, direct, teach, and convict me.
Holy Spirit thank you for revealing where we believe the truth. Guide us in the steps needed to believe the truth of Your Word, in Jesus’ name, amen.
