Loss

Loss can come in many forms such as:

  • Loss of a brother to death
  • Loss of a parent to a horrible death that was totally out of character
  • Loss of a family member to an offence that can result in years of heartache
  • Loss of an election when you have given all that you have
  • Loss of a job
  • Loss of integrity on a job
  • Loss of a friendship because of any issue
  • Loss of marriage through either death or divorce

Many forms of loss bring a form of pain. Loss can also have a numbing effect. Loss causes grief. The level of shock will be dependent on the kind of loss. Recently I experienced the death of a family member that still to this day seems unreal.

I was asking myself what I do through a loss so I do not go into numbness and become lost in this grief. The Holy Spirit reminded me to concentrate on who the Lord is and what He does.

  • Psalms 34:18 NASB The Lord is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
  • Psalms 147:3 NASB He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.
  • Isaiah 25:8 NASB He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the disgrace of His people from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken.
  • Psalms 25:16-17 NASB Turn to me and be gracious to me, For I am lonely and afflicted. 17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses.
  • Psalms 30:5b NASB Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning.

Whatever the loss may be God wants us to know He is always good and does not change. He reminded me to wrap myself in Him, knowing that He is a merciful God and a just Judge and I can trust Him with everything. Jesus is my Prince of Peace and He is always with me.

I want to encourage you that whatever you may be going through God will comfort you, you can trust Him. This loss may have left you paralyzed because of the decisions you now have to make but God wants to be your strength. Trust Him and not be dismayed just as He encouraged Joshua.

  • John 14:27 NASB Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful.
  • Joshua 1:9 NASB Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

When your loss is fresh it is hard to put to words even how you are feeling but I am determined that no matter what, I will take nothing but good out of this loss and I will see my family saved. The Lord brought this resoluteness to me through a horrible loss. I pray you will read this testimony with encouragement and know that God can do this for you in your grief.

Father God, I thank You that You are no respecter of person and what You did for me, You can do for someone else. I thank You that You are our comforter and we can trust You with everything. Lord, I am so grateful that even though we may weep, joy does come in the morning with You. I thank You that You wipe away all tears and heal our broken hearts. Thank You for You Lord, in Jesus’ name, amen.
