Name Above All Names

As I prepare for online prayer usually there are helpful directive focuses. One time the focus was that “God deserved the glory”. As I prayerfully searched the scriptures nothing seemed to settle with me and I am asking the Holy Spirit, what do you want me to pray? I heard Him say, pray all My different titles. I questioned Him, wouldn’t that be as though I was teaching the Teacher, are You sure? That was a silly question to ask the Holy Spirit because I am more than positive that He knows what He wants me to pray.

As I researched the Names of God, I was expecting to find all the different Jehovah for example Jehovah Jireh, My Provider but that was not what I discovered. To my amazement, I found 102 distinct titles of our Lord. This was a revelation to me because as I prayed through His titles strength, faith, belief and trust were built in me of who God is. The excitement grew in me because I was proclaiming out of my mouth and hearing that He is God Almighty, my Father and that He loves me for all of eternity. As I share some of these scriptures with you I believe that your faith will grow because you are hearing the Word of God and faith is journeying to you.

  • Romans 10:17 NASB So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

As we hear these titles of the Lord we will believe that He did it before and that He is more than able to do it again.

  • Advocate – 1 John 2:1 NASB My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

This scripture is exciting because it reveals what the Lord did on the cross. He paid the price for our sins and when we walk in a relationship with Him, He will be our lawyer if we sin. Once we are saved we are no longer sinners but saints. He is our righteous one!

  • Almighty – Revelation 1:8 NASB “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Not only is Jesus the Almighty One but He is also the Alpha and the Omega. He is the beginning and the end. I can trust Him with my past and my future. I can also stand on this truth when the lies of the culture tell me that I came from nothing and I have nothing to look forward to. I can say to the enemy, that is not correct, Jesus is the Alpha, Omega and Almighty One and you are not.

  • Author and Perfecter of our Faith – Hebrews 12:2 NKJV looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Since Jesus is the author and finisher of my faith, I can trust Him that He is more than able to bring about the answers to my prayers because He endured the cross for me. Not only that but He is seated at the right hand of God the Father and because I have faith in Him, I am also seated in heavenly places with Him. Woo hoo!

  • Bridegroom – Matthew 9:15 NASB And Jesus said to them, “The attendants of the groom cannot mourn as long as the groom is with them, can they? But the days will come when the groom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.

This is a magnificent verse that Jesus is the Bridegroom. He is a loving bridegroom who has been washing His bride, the church of Jesus Christ with the Word of God so that one day we will be a holy bride, without spot or blemish and He will return for us. What an amazing lover Jesus is!

  • Gift of God – 2 Corinthians 9:15 NASB Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

God the Father loves us with an everlasting love because He is holy. This amazing love could only result in Him giving us this indescribable gift of salvation, life after death, and eternal relationship for those who will surrender. Won’t you surrender today to our Lord Jesus Christ this priceless gift from Father God.

  • King of kings and Lord of lords – 1 Timothy 6:15 NASB which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,

This scripture says that at the proper time all will know that Jesus is the only Sovereign King and Lord. There is also a scripture saying that all knees will bow before Him one day. I choose to bow today and everyday to the only King and Lord giving Him all the homage due Him.

  • Lamb of God – John 1:29 NASB The next day he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Thankfully John declared who Jesus was and His purpose. Jesus was the perfect lamb who came to shed His blood so that our sins could be redeemed from the hand of the enemy,  forgiven, continually cleansed, made righteous, sanctified and holy. I am so grateful that Jesus freely went to the cross. He did tell His daddy that he didn’t really want to but He submitted to the Father’s will for you and me. Hallelujah!

  • Lion of the Tribe of Judah – Revelation 5:5 NASB And one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to be able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

I do not need to weep anymore because the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah the all powerful one has come. He will fulfill His Father’s purpose and He has overcome. He already stripped the enemy of his authority. Colossians 2:15

  • Righteousness – Jeremiah 23:6 NASB In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will live securely; And this is His name by which He will be called, ‘The Lord Our Righteousness.’

Isaiah writes that our righteousness is as filthy rags but thankfully Jesus became our righteousness forever. He took away our filthy rags and exchanged it for His righteousness because of His blood. We have this promise so that when the accuser of the brethren comes at us with his accusations we can say, no I have been made righteous because of Jehovah Tsidkenu.

  • Way and Truth – John 14:6 NASB Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.

When our culture screams at us today of this is the way you should go we can say no, Jesus is the only way and the truth and the life and the only way to God the Father. I find my truth in Jesus. I find my way in Jesus. He will never let me down and He will never lead me astray. Thank you Jesus.

  • Jesus – Matthew 1:21 NASB She will give birth to a Son; and you shall name Him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Jesus is the name above all names and He is my Lord and Saviour. He loves all and He has provided salvation for all. There is no better way to pray than to pray the scriptures and thank God for who He is and what He has done for you. As I pray like this I always move to an intercessory prayer of asking that others come to acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ as their own Lord. I want them to know these truths and rejoice in these solid foundations of who Jesus is and the provision of Jehovah Jireh. As we know these then we will have peace from Jehovah Shalom. Healing will come to our broken minds, souls and bodies from Jehovah Raphe.

I pray that you receive these truths as your own and you would pray them for your family, friends, enemies and your nations, in Jesus name.

Feel free to review, subscribe and share with others to encourage them in their prayers.
