In the Old Testament God was referred to Yahweh, El Shaddai, Lord God.
I am so grateful that Jesus opened the way for us to go to God as our Father. When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist the heavens opened and God proclaimed This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased Matthew 3: 17. What an endearing proclamation that everyone of us want to hear from our daddy’s. Everyone of has some form of broken heart because of their relationship with their earthly father, even if he was an excellent daddy, he was not perfect therefore there is some kind of brokenness that needs to be healed. But Jesus was the first to open the way to our God as Father. He taught us to pray “Our Father”, isn’t that amazing, Jesus did not say My Father but He the Lord knew His calling was to bring God’s children home to their Heavenly Father and He said Our Father. That just makes me want to skip and dance.
Jesus kept teaching about the goodness of God, the love of God the Father, how God waits for us, how God shepherds us and how He seeks and searches for us and never gives up on us.
The best parable for me is found in Luke 15: 11-32 The Prodigal Son.
When the prodigal had squandered his inheritance and left starving in the pig stye he finally came to his senses. There is hope for all of us to come to our senses. When he decided to get up and go to his father who had been waiting every day, he was a faithful daddy who prayed, believed, and trusted God for his prodigal to come home. He did not give up hope because his hope was in God Almighty and this parable is a representation about God as the Father. We can also be encouraged of when we are waiting for our prodigals to come home.
But Father God when he saw the prodigal a long way off, He got up and ran down the road and embraced him with a kiss, ring, and robe.
I grew up on a farm with a long laneway and I have a vision of my daddy waiting there for me looking out to the main road both ways looking, searching, just waiting for a sight of his obstinate daughter walking towards his farm and then when he would have seen me, my daddy would have run down that long laneway not stopping for breathe because he would have been so glad and excited for me to be out of the pig stye and dirt that I had put myself in and back in my sound mind. This vision brings tears to my eyes because my earthly daddy was a very quiet man who to my knowledge was never saved by grace of the Jesus, but that is how he would have acted, I can see how his facial expression would be, I can feel the hug, I can see the eyes overwhelming with tears and I am blessed by this vision. Thank you, Lord.
So, if that is how my earthly daddy would act, how much more my heavenly Father is standing, waiting, loving on us because He sent his Son, Jesus Christ to open the way for us to go home.
John 3: 16 NKJV For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
So right now, as I write this, I feel like the company Nike proclaiming with their brand identification of “Just Do It”. Just get up, come home to God Almighty the everlasting Father who loves us, come home, come home to Him, He is calling us home and He will run down the lane and hug and kiss you and place a signet ring of ownership and authority on your hand and a beautiful robe to replace the rags that you are in and give you beautiful shoes to help your beaten feet to bring healing to those worn torn feet of travelling in all the wrong areas and bitten by snakes and scorpions. He will cleanse you and make you whole. If you are a parent, grandparent and are praying for your children and loved ones, trust God and keep praying in faith and do not lose hope in God. God loves them more than you ever could. Do not forget that God not only gave the prodigal a ring, robe, and sandals but He also celebrated with a huge dinner party so you and I will also be preparing parties when our prodigals come home to God and we will be rejoicing along with the many angels that also rejoice, thanking God our Father.
Psalm 39:7 ESV “And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you.
Luke 15: 10 AMP In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents [that is, changes his inner self—his old way of thinking, regrets past sins, lives his life in a way that proves repentance; and seeks God’s purpose for his life].”
Shawn Bolz a prophet had this vision that God in this season is sending angels all around the world to bring the prodigal’s home. God says I am the shepherd who searches for the lost sheep. I offer them a new inheritance to a kingdom of heaven. Pray with new passion for the prodigals. People who had Christian roots are coming back. Also, in Luke 15 we are not supposed to relate to the younger brother or the older brother who was judging and disgusted we are supposed to relate to God the Father who has a huge heart, open arms waiting, constantly standing watching for His children He had his home open to both.
WOW. Don’t lose hope pray for friends, kids, grandkids. People will be awakened to Jesus instead of the garbage they find themselves in now.
1 John 5:14-15 ESV And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him.
So Father God, we are so grateful that Jesus made the way that we can call you Father and that we can have a personal relationship with You, we are thankful for the cross of redemption and the resurrection power and Lord that is what we are believing for our children and loved ones that we are able to see them come to their senses and turn from their wicked ways and come running home to You and to us. Father, we believe that our relationships will be healed and made whole and that the Kingdom of God would come to our homes in Jesus Name. We thank you Holy Spirit for drawing all the prodigals across our land to come home to You. Amen
